Robotics Kit & Live Online Instructor-Led Classes
Spark your child’s curiosity, ingenuity, and creativity as he learns the basics of robotics and coding with this fun but educational family activity. Designed to involve critical thinking skills, your child builds Robby the Drummer and programs the robot to perform different tasks. Your child’s self-confidence improves as he observes the immediate results of his work.
Robotics Kit & Coding Classes Bundle Includes:
- Robby the Drummer Robotics Kit
- Three live, instructor-led classes
- One hour per week online via Zoom
- Three-week class length
- Classes taught by Robotics Workshop for Kids
- Four sketches of pre-prepared programs
The live, instructor-led classes teach your child to design, build, and program a robot. Learning about coding fundamentals, specific code, and changing code to create new functions builds a solid foundation in robotics. This complete and comprehensive learning experience enhances knowledge in robotics, engineering, and technology and is perfect for kids 6 years to 16 years of age.
Robby the Drummer Robotics Kit
This engaging robot kit includes everything you need to build a robot that performs different actions.
- micro-controller board with built in memory
- servo motors
- body parts
- a power unit
- three-color LEDs
- drum (tambourine)
- drum sticks
- programming
After building the robot, your child is introduced to Arduino programming console and the basics of coding using C++ for Arduino. Using easy-to-understand steps, the child programs the robot and brings it to life.
The child adds a hardware component and wires a "traffic light" to the existing micro-controller unit. After the child programs the robot with a new code to integrate the red, green, and yellow LEDs, the robot performs a specific action based on each color of light. The instructor provides a detailed explanation of the code that controls specific actions and encourages each child to modify code to produce different functions.
The child attaches the drum sticks and uses a pre-prepared code to program the robot to play the drum. The instructor provides a detailed explanation of the code that controls specific actions and how the program can be modified so the robot plays varying drum beats.
At the end of the last class, the child is provided with the actual code which he can modify so the robot performs different actions. Your child can continue to adjust coding and add hardware to expand the number of functions the robot can perform.
