
Physical Development & Fitness Homeschool Curriculum Skills List | Faith-Based Second Grade
Physical education teaches the value of regular exercise and encourages cooperation with others. Activities are provided to promote the development of gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination.
• Develop small motor skills as developmentally appropriate: copy patterns, gluing, using scissors/pencils/crayons.
• Develop large motor skills as developmentally appropriate: jogging, running, chasing, dodging, hopping, skipping, galloping, throwing/bouncing/catching/rolling/kicking/hitting a ball, dancing, tumbling balancing, playing games.
• Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts and strategies as they apply to physical activities.
• Participates in regular physical activity.
• Understand the importance of daily hygiene.
• Acquire skills to live safely and reduce health risks.
• Understand the relationship of nutrition and food nutrients to body composition and physical performance.
