Physical Development & Fitness Homeschool Curriculum Skills List| Faith-Based First Grade

Physical education teaches the value of regular exercise and encourages cooperation with others. Activities are provided to promote the development of gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Develop small motor skills as developmentally appropriate: copy patterns, gluing, using scissors/pencils/crayons.
  • Develop large motor skills as developmentally appropriate: walking, jogging, running, hopping, skipping, galloping, throwing/bouncing/catching/rolling/kicking/hitting a ball, dancing, tumbling, balancing, playing games.
  • Dribble a basketball to the beat of music.
  • Understand the relationship of nutrition and food nutrients to body composition and physical performance.
  • Understand the importance of daily exercise.
  • Use clues to complete a treasure hunt.
  • Acquire skills to live safely and reduce health risks.
  • Invent a new game.
